Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard 100% Whey Protein Review

Since starting this blog and reading up on a lot more supplement related articles and products, one name was constantly popping up all over been tipped as the best protein shake on the market today, and it was no other than Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard 100% Whey.
I came across banner adverts saying it had been voted the best an amazing 6 years running etc which shocked me a little as I’d never spoke about it or been told about it by any of my friends who like me are all keen gym junkies!
So, as I scraped and scooped the last dregs of protein powder I currently had left, I decided that this one was next on the shopping list.
I picked up the optimum nutrition gold standard whey 2.27kg at £39.75 from an online store (didn’t do too much price comparison research) and started on taking 2 shakes per day
The protein is packed full of Whey Isolates that are a huge 90% pure protein based on weight. They are the most expensive and purest form of whey protein that exists on the market today. Each serving packs and rather impressive 24g of protein per serving with an additional 4g of glutamine and 5.5g of BCAAs.
As summer is approaching this was perfect for me as the protein is super low in carbohydrates, it’s actually super low in all the other ‘fillers’ you find in a lot of the products on sale these days also which was a huge bonus.
Because this is low carb, its perfect for anyone who’s looking to lose weight in their cutting stage, or just simply looking to add clean lean muscle.
I got around the 77 or so servings that the tub lists is inside and I was taking 2 per day so this lasted me just over 5 weeks smashing it every day which works out at about 50p per shake you have.
Bringing it all in together, I was MAJORLY impressed with this protein and have already got my second order in, I had the chocolate flavour which was great tasting I don’t have any negatives to report back on that.
In fact the product as a whole hardly has any negatives at all, it really did live up to its hype and I’m not at all surprised about the awards it seems to win on a yearly basis.
There’s no question that Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard Whey is the standard by which other protein supplements should be measured.
Below is the ingredients label that is listed on the tub;
